We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

Because I am only working every other day I did not have to work on the first day of school this year...so we decided to take the boys to the Calgary Zoo.

Daddy and his boys ready to see some animals!

The giraffes...Mommy's fav!  The little one was just born this year...his birth stats were 6' tall and 185lbs!  Poor mama giraffe!

waving goodbye to the giraffes!

Checking out some fishies

Into the jungle...

I couldn't resist!

Last time we were at the zoo, Amber and I took each of the boys out of their stroller and popped them into the kangaroo's pouch, but this time it was full of water so they just stood by him...crazy how much they have grown!

Playing at the park...

Lucas giving Nate a little boost!

They played at the 2-5 park for a couple of minutes but before we knew it they had moved on to the 6-8 park and were doing pretty good!

Family shot just outside the zoo

We stopped in Airdrie on our way home for lunch at Five Guys Burgers and Fries...SO GOOD!!!

Matthew LOVED the fries, he could not be stopped!

Nathan loving his burger!

Big bite for Lucas!

BEST FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL EVER!!!

21 more sleeps until Christmas!

Our advent activity today was to drive down to Calgary and do Zoolights with the Roths.

Here are 2 of our little loves on the ride down.
 Our other little love!
John and I (and everyone else in our families) are HUGE Harvey's fans...I mean huge.  When I was going to school in Edmonton I would always stop on my way home to bring John home a burger.  Even just this last week my dad brought one back from Edmonton for me...thanks dad :)

Because of our love for the burger a couple of years ago the Roths agreed to make part of our tradition dinner at Harveys before zoolights.  Here is John feeding the fellas their very first Harveys burger...needless to say they LOVED it!!!
After our yummy supper we made a quick pitstop at Starbucks and headed on over to the zoo.

The boys were not huge fans of being "packed" into their snowsuits...but man were they ever cute!  They were so puffy they barely fit into the strollers!!
Matty and Nate
 Luc...and Scortch!

At Zoolights they have a wish tree where everyone writes out their wish on a ribbon and ties it to a Christmas tree.  Because of the arctic cold weather last year we were unable to make our zoolights trip, but the year before that John and I both wished for a happy, healthy baby (I was not pregnant at the time)...so if you have a chance to make a wish on the wish tree, make sure that you pick something as good as we did!!!

Here is John writing out his 2010 wish.

and tying it on the tree!

Lucas Christopher and his baby!
 Nathan James
 Matthew Owen

With their toques on and their hoods up the boys sure looked A LOT like each other!

 Our 2010 Zoolights group shot!

 The proud papas!

Me with the 4 loves of my life!

The fab four!

Trip to the zoo - number two!

Today we made our second trip down to the Calgary zoo. When we left Red Deer it was 14 degrees and looked like it was going to maybe rain (which would have been the perfect zoo weather minus the rain because everyone says that the animals are more active when it is cool out), but when we got there it was stinking hot...28 degrees!!!
Here are the boys getting a little crawl time before being loaded into the stroller. I can't believe how much Nathan and Matthew look alike in this picture!
We quickly found the cage that was the most interesting to the boys. The Lions!
But the lions were nowhere to be found. There were people working in their cage with chain-saws, and the boys loved it! hahaha
All the boys in the Kangaroo pouch! Getting this picture was quite a challenge.
First french fries!
Nate
Matty
Luc
Amber and Matty checking out the old, wrinkley, bearded elephants!
We stopped for a quick ice cream break. I was feeding Nathan and Lucas in the back and Amber was feeding Matthew...he made this face everytime he thought he should have more...SO FUNNY!
All loaded up ready to go home!

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

Our main activity for our second day in "Seattle" was the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. It was a little loud while we were getting ready so we put an episode of GLEE on and it was a total kid magnet/mute button! I kind of wish this was a video because they were all dancing too! SO FUNNY!!!We finally made it to the zoo after a couple of GPS recalculations! Here are the boys pumping up the tires in the strollers!
When we got in the first thing we did was the aquarium. ALL FIVE boys LOVED these fish!!!
Nate could not get enough :)
Here is Daddy and Lucas checking out some of the animals.
Notice anything funny about this picture???
There is the missing baby!!!
Since it was SO HOT out we got some ice cream for the boys. We were in the polar bear area and there was a man doing a talk on some interesting polar bear facts. Even though he had a speaker on I doubt that anyone could hear him because whatever babies did not have the spoon in their mouth were SCREAMING!!! I could not get that spoon around fast enough. Needless to say we left pretty soon after this!
After the zoo we stopped at a little fish and chips/burger shack on the beach...yum yum yum! Here is John feeding the boys some snacks while we were waiting for our lunch.
Tailgate party!

After our lunch we headed to the Seattle premium outlets. It was way too hot (38 degrees) for the babies...and most of the adults too. I ended up bringing our fellas back to our air conditioned hotel early and then Mel and I went back to do a little baby free shopping after supper!

And did I mention how H.O.T. it was???
